Devotion vs. Desire
Your Commitment is Being Tested
The universe has a way of testing your faith when it comes to the things you claim you desire most. There is a necessary differentiation between desire and devotion; as I’m beginning to think it’s devotion that eventually feels a level of fulfillment and not desire. In essence, desire is fleeting. For instance, there are moments when I desire physical closeness and then, after some time has passed, I can oscillate back to being content without it (even without fulfilling the original desire). It is simply a waiting game.
That’s not the same as devotion. The unending relationship with devotion is that it doesn’t always have to entice your senses to motivate your soul. Devotion is about understanding value and stepping into emotional maturity. Much of desire can be quite childlike or rooted in patterns reinforced overtime.
Devotion transcends repetition, because its frequency doesn’t necessarily change your relationship to your devotee. Devotion can be quiet, subtle, or even slightly in the background but, it never disappears. Right now, your devotion is being tested.
Devotion, as an energy, is asking members of our collective if they desire change or if they’re devoted to the manifestation of a new life? Desiring a different life is always fun to think about in theory but, devotion requires you to show up and continue to do so. That’s where we start to separate the coulda-woulda’s from the doer’s and get-it-done’s.
There are moments in spiritual awakenings that are physically destabilizing, deeply emotional, and disruptive to your status quo. However, there are many more moments, like these, moments that present themselves quietly, less overt or indirectly. Will you continue to work toward your devotion when your desire dwindles?
